Attendees will learn about the nature or implicit bias and how it affects understanding, actions and decisions in an unconscious manner. The presentation will address the obligations and responsibilities of attorneys working in the healthcare sector to identify and address implicit bias in their own practice, as well as structural biases which may exist within their institutions or firms. Participants will also learn about strategies to mitigate the impact of implicit biases in health equity and outcomes.
Pamela Hamilton is a registered nurse and a licensed CA attorney. She is the Vice President of Risk Management for Cedars-Sinai and oversees the Risk Management activities of a complex Academic Medical Center and 4 hospital health systems. Ms. Hamilton’s law practice experience was exclusively as a medical malpractice defense attorney where she defended hospitals and individual physicians in Los Angeles. Her past clinical nursing experience includes ICU/Critical Care and OB/Labor and Delivery.
