SCAHRM’s Mission is to provide its members with continuing education, networking opportunities and professional enhancements within the health care community.
The Southern California Association for Healthcare Risk Management (SCAHRM) is an affiliated chapter of the American Society for Healthcare Risk Management (ASHRM), a Professional Membership Group (PMG) of the American Hospital Association. We are proud of our over 40 year history of serving the professional Risk Management community. We are pleased that our membership includes risk managers in acute care, ambulatory care, long term care and managed care settings, patient safety personnel, defense attorneys, insurance and claim management professionals, consultants, quality management professionals, privacy officers, equipment and supply vendors, and health information specialists.
SCAHRM’s educational opportunities include monthly education programs, and an annual educational conference that is regarded as one of the best quality conferences in the field. We plan and design programs that will stimulate thoughts and actions, encourage people to grow in their professional roles, and keep our members well-informed about new legislative requirements, clinical considerations, loss control considerations, litigation claim management, risk financing, and risk prevention techniques. Continuing education credit is provided through the Board of Registered Nursing and the California State Bar to qualified attendees.In addition, the SCAHRM Communication Committee provides education through the quarterly E-News publication.
We encourage and promote networking among our members by allotting time at meetings, and encouraging service on SCAHRM’s standing committees and ad hoc task forces. Our standing committees are listed below, and you can join the committee by contacting the committee chair listed beside each one:
