Please join us for an evening of education and networking with an outstanding panel of experts who will discuss the evolution of MICRA since the recent legislative changes that went into effect on January 1, 2023, and the impact those changes have had on medical malpractice litigation. This event will be relevant and informative not only for medical malpractice attorneys, but risk managers and in-house counsel who are responsible for managing claims.
David J. Weiss graduated from Loyola University School of Law in 1977, and initially joined the Los Angeles-based firm Haight, Brown & Bonesteel. In 1979, Mr. Weiss began to specialize in the defense of medical malpractice cases when he joined the firm of Bonne, Bridges, Mueller, O’Keefe & Nichols. In 1989, he founded his own firm and continued his practice of specializing in the defense of hospital, medical, dental and allied healthcare professionals as well as representing professionals in administrative law and licensing matters. Mr. Weiss also has an extensive background in employment litigation of behalf of healthcare professionals and institutions including an expertise in Public Entity law. Mr. Weiss and the firm also are experienced in the defense of large damage or catastrophic injury matters involving automobile accidents.
Mr. Weiss is a member of the Association of Southern California Defense Counsel, and has been a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates since 1991. Mr. Weiss lectures regularly to various professional organizations, societies and groups on the issues of professional negligence and employment.
Rob Dobbins is an experienced full time Neutral since 2002. Rob brings an enhanced depth of skills to a variety of mediated and arbitrated matters. Expanding his focus to cases involving medical issues, Rob has been developing his proficiency with medical negligence and elder abuse cases under the mentorship of Master Mediator/Arbitrator Jay Cordell Horton, co-mediating more than 60 of these cases together. Beyond medical negligence and elder abuse, Rob has handled a wide range of major injury cases, and a full spectrum of complex business/commercial, real estate, employment, and financial institution matters. Combining his knowledge of the field and his mediator skills, Rob receives the highest praise for his persistence and patience.
