The number of APPs in the workforce has grown considerably over the past decade. This trend is expected to continue over the next decade as the growth in physician population slows. Our claims database reveals that as the population of APPs grows, the number of claims involving APPs are growing as well. We will explore the claims and indemnity trends associated with APPs based on an analysis of MPL claims data. The primary root causes and risk management issues that contribute to these claims will be examined. The presentation will conclude with a discussion of risk management strategies that can help an organization or practice minimize the risk and liability associated with APP practice.
