SCAHRM October Education Session Using AI Is/Isn’t Now the Standard of Care

October 22 at 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Join SCAHRM for a timely in-person discussion on how artificial intelligence is reshaping healthcare practice — and whether its use is becoming part of the standard of care.

This session brings together a seasoned medical malpractice defense attorney and a practicing physician-lawyer who has litigated medical malpractice cases to examine the current state of AI use at the point of care. Attendees will learn which AI models are currently available and used in medicine, how the standard of care applies to AI use in clinical settings, and what current and emerging laws may shape the future of AI in medicine. Because this topic is new and rapidly evolving, attendees should expect a thoughtful discussion featuring two differing opinions based on the same laws and facts.

Objectives

  • To educate attendees about the current state of AI use in medicine.
  • To educate attendees about the standard of care and how that applies to the use of AI in medicine.
  • To educate attendees on the current laws and possible future laws governing the use of AI in medicine.
