SCAHRM COVID Webinar Series – Session 4

Advice for Healthcare Employers During the COVID-19 Pandemic

Presenters will provide an overview of the newly-enacted FFCRA and City of LA ordinance regarding paid sick leave and paid family leave provisions, summary of COVID-related claims and litigation, and advice in managing HR issues including workplace safety, employee complaints, attendance, sick leave management, family leave obligations, and the influx of evolving information related to an employer’s COVID-related obligations under state and federal law. Presenters will also highlight frequently asked questions and common scenarios faced by healthcare employers during this pandemic, whether workers are directly caring for COVID patients or not.

Objectives: In this session, presenters will:

  1. Review management of COVID-related issues in the workplace.
  2. Discuss FFCRA compliance, leave requests, workplace safety, HR complaints, and potential layoffs.
  3. Highlight frequently asked questions and common scenarios faced by healthcare employers during this pandemic.

This course has been approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing BRN Provider Number 10552 for 1.0 contact hour and 1.0 hour MCLE by Wood Smith Henning & Berman LLP. ASHRM/CPHRM credit has been applied for and will be available pending approval. Certificates of attendance will be emailed to attendees following completion of the session’s feedback survey.

 

 

About the Speakers:
Dana Withers’ practice focuses on providing clients’ executive teams with strategic business advice on labor and employment issues, triaging and resolving pre-litigation employment claims, and litigation management. Dana also counsels employers on matters related to wrongful discharge, retaliation, harassment, discrimination, wage and hour compliance, FMLA leave and employment agreements.

Keith Smith’s employment practice includes HR counseling, representation at EDD and pre-litigation agency hearings, and litigation of complex employment claims in court and in arbitration. He has successfully handled matters involving wrongful termination, wage and hour, PAGA, discrimination, disability, and sexual harassment.

 

This webinar will be hosted on GoToMeeting, and will be recorded for registrants who cannot attend at the scheduled time.
