The majority of healthcare encounters today occur in ambulatory care settings. We have pushed more and more procedures not only from inpatient ORs to outpatient ORs but also from ORs to clinic settings. Yet these clinic settings are often not equipped with the same personnel or equipment as an ambulatory surgical site. Through case examples this presentation will explore the high risk of fire in the everyday office setting. Using the enterprise risk management model the presenters will offer recommendations from their own “lessons learned” about how to prevent patient and caregiver harm from fire.
