This presentation covers recent developments in structured settlements, including the use of structured Medicare Set-Asides to meet future medical needs most economically. There will be a discussion of the applicability of structured settlements to a variety of cases faced by healthcare risk management professionals, including medical malpractice, elder abuse, premises liability, and workers’ compensation. Through real-world case studies and collaboration insights, the presentation will address family dynamics in the settlement arena, and how to use structures to achieve better settlement outcomes.

Speakers:

Brad Cantwell
Brad Cantwell is a Settlement Consultant and former President and CEO of Arcadia Settlements Group. He brings more than 30 years of experience in resolving complex personal injury cases. He has assisted in thousands of settlements involving insurers, self-insureds, and defense counsel.
Brad has led industry efforts to improve settlement planning, product design, technology, and data security. His work emphasizes client-centered strategies that streamline negotiations and deliver durable results.
He is an active member of the National Structured Settlements Trade Association, where he has chaired the Political Action Committee, co-chaired the Education and Innovation Committees, and currently serves on the Legislation and Regulations Committee. [email protected]

Len Blonder
Len Blonder has more than 40 years of structured settlement experience. Since 1978, he has consulted on over 10,000 cases totaling billions of dollars in settlements. He is recognized nationally as a leader in the industry.
Starting in the 1980s, Len has played a central role in preserving the tax-free status of structured settlements, work that led to the creation of the National Structured Settlements Trade Association (NSSTA). He served 27 years on NSSTA’s Board of Directors, including three terms as President, and chaired committees on legislation, regulation, and industry integrity.
He continues to advise insurers, defense counsel, and self-insureds on settlement strategies that reduce risk, protect payment security, and create long-term value for all parties. [email protected]
