Lunch & Learn Webinar: The New Frontier in Safety: Fire Prevention in Ambulatory Care

July 17 at 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Description:

The majority of healthcare encounters today occur in ambulatory care settings. We have pushed more and more procedures not only from inpatient ORs to outpatient ORs but also from ORs to clinic settings. Yet these clinic settings are often not equipped with the same personnel or equipment as an ambulatory surgical site. Through case examples this presentation will explore the high risk of fire in the everyday office setting. Using the enterprise risk management model the presenters will offer recommendations from their own “lessons learned” about how to prevent patient and caregiver harm from fire.

Objectives:

  1. Be able to identify at least 3 key elements of a fire prevention program in ambulatory.
  2. Incorporate at least 1 safety story into their own ambulatory fire safety training.
  3. Explain what makes ambulatory care a high-risk fire setting.

Speaker:

Jason Williams, MHA, CPHRM. UCI Health Assistant Director of Risk Management

Jason Williams has a progressive career in healthcare over the last 17 years, including experience in Risk Management within the community hospital setting and complex academic health systems. His passion continues to grow within Risk Management specifically when advocating for patients and healthcare professionals, while implementing efficient system-based changes to help keep patients safe, thereby reducing risk exposures for the organizations he serves.
